OUR
HISTORY
Barnstormers
was founded in 1952 by Mike Spooner, producing 22 plays
in parks, schools, and any other venue they could find.
In 1961, the group purchased a Church of Christ building
at 112 NE Evelyn Avenue in Grants Pass. Since converting
the building into a theatre, the Barnstormers have gone
on to produce more than 200 plays over its half-century
history!
Barnstormers has also produced many one act plays, musical
productions, and community youth productions. A volunteer
non-profit Oregon corporation, we are delighted to announce
that the mortgage was paid off years ago through ticket
sales and private donations from loyal patrons. We appreciate
your continued support and look forward to 50 more productive
years.
Mildred
Irene Watt, one of our Founding Members, has written an
"Early Barnstormers History."
Telling the 54 year Story of the Barnstomers Theatre Company,
Mildred also lists the 207 plays, right up through the 2006-2007
Season. This 33-page History is now available at the Historical
Society Research Library, corner of 5th and K Streets, for
$8.00.

WHAT
WE DO
EDUCATION:
We strive to provide a clean, fun, safe environment in which
to expand our talents. Classes are provided from time to
time for everything from stage movement to technical work.
We encourage the public to become involved and have many
duties for non-actors that require little or no theater
knowledge and very little donated time.
THEATRE
BUY-OUTS: Any private, public, or charitable organization
may buy out our theatre for a sum of $500 for a private
performance of a play in progress, on a NON PUBLIC performance
date. This is an excellent FUND RAISING program for any
group.
THEATRE
FOR THE ARTS: Our theatre has been used by traveling
troupes, musicians, musical groups and one-person shows.
Outside performers and their materials must be reviewed
and scheduled by our Artistic Committee.
PERFORMANCE
TIMES:
Friday
and Saturday.... 8:00 p.m. -- Sunday Matinee.... 2:00 p.m.
