Susan Russell
All in the Timing wraps up our 2007-2008 season. And what a season it has been -- moving Barnstormers into a more contemporary milieu. From Eugene’s innocent, yet sexually charged, adolescent ponderings in Brighton Beach Memories, through the decadence of pre-war Germany in Cabaret, and the animalistic behaviors in The Fox, we have dared to deal with themes rarely seen on this stage. The Mousetrap, A Christmas Carol and Done to Death balanced the scales, offering top-notch performances of more traditional materials. Your attendance showed your approval and appreciation of the direction we are going. Thanks to the Artistic Committee for selecting such great material.
“And now for something completely different...” as John Cleese of Monty Python used to say...
All in the Timing makes no claim to offer up deep ponderings, borrows only a mild expletive or two from decadence, and, while it does have chimps and mayflies, these prove to be more human than animalistic in their behavior.
But.... it is anything but traditional. Like the very early Saturday Night Live (remember when it used to be cleverly written?), All in the Timing is witty, creative, engaging -- and just plain fun! From the false starts of finding romance in Sure Thing, through the eight variations for the last few moments of Trotsky’s life (based on fact, by the way), to the final ‘mayfly-ght’ to Paris, Ives’ wonderful word play shows us the power of language to connect and disconnect and have a great time doing it...
So, sit back, ‘boggle da zitsbells,’ and enjoy.... Carpe diem
Susan

The Cast |
| |
LuWana Campbell - BETTY, A YOUNG WOMAN

LuWana has been interested in theater for many years. In 2000, she débuted in the Barnstormers production Skin of Our Teeth, wherein she had a blast playing multiple bit parts. Afterwards, she had her hands full, graduating from RCC, getting married, and having a baby girl. In 2004 she landed a singing part in RMT’s Oliver, playing a strawberry seller and pregnant bar wench. Last December she had another baby girl. LuWana would like to dedicate her performances to her oldest daughter, Viviana, who will be five in June.

Shane Stafford - BILL, MARK

Shane makes his triumphant return to the stage, his first appearance since the 2005 GPHS production of Romeo and Juliet, the Mob Chronicles in which he played one title role (and no, not Juliet). He is a really cool guy who enjoys cuddling, laughing, and playing basketball at Lawnridge Park. Shane has three life goals: to raise a good family, to win an Academy Award, and to be elected President of the United States. He sincerely hopes you enjoy the show.

David Mannix - TROTSKY, DON

A recovering lawyer, this is David’s seventh production in Grants Pass, although the first at Barnstormers. He is 56 years old and straight. He has previously appeared in Fingerpainting on a Murphy Bed, Barefoot in the Park, Dracula, Love, Sex and the IRS, Saving Grace, and something else. Other interests include membership on the board of Josephine Community Libraries, whose cause he now hereby shamelessly plugs.

Nancy Ryan - MRS. TROTSKY, MAY (THE MAYFLY)

In addition to being the owner of Evergreen Tax and Financial Services, Nancy has been busy the last few years acting at Stardust Theatre in Steel Magnolias, Pride and Prejudice, and Same Time Another Year. She was last seen on this stage as Maggie in Jake’s Women. Her most memorable and challenging role was Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire. She has worked in various theaters in southern California and at the Angus Bowmer Theatre in Ashland. “I am thrilled to be working at Barnstormers again with this very talented cast and crew. Thank you, Susan.”

| |
Brandt Spencer - RAMON, AL, SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH

This actor’s experiences include the Renaissance Fair and the Society of Creative Anachronisms. From the smokey karaoke bars of Medford, making his theatrical début, we present a maker of cheese and a saver of trees, Brandt S. Spencer.

Heidi Erickson - SWIFT

Heidi is 23. She loves the outdoors, Japanese comic books, swimming, drawing, and volunteering as a muralist. Comedy, travel, culture studies, music, history, and scary stories also pique her interest. But being in a play is the most fun of all, she'd tell you.

Phoebe Rae - KAFKA

Phoebe Rae is making her second appearance on the Barnstormer’s stage. Her first was Bombur in The Hobbit. She also appeared in Connect the Dots’ Vagina Monologues, playing a title character. She lives a cheesy life five days a week. Delighted to be back on Barnstormers, she hopes everyone enjoys the show. She still enjoys silently screaming in front of a mirror.

Mike McCann - MILTON, HORACE (THE MAYFLY)

Mike has been living in the Rogue Valley for about 20 years and got involved in community theatre about three years ago, playing a parent in Stillpoint’s Nutcracker Ballet. He is delighted to be working with director Susan Russell and such an accomplished cast in this clever and fun production |
